On 18 June 2024, Yerevan hosted political consultations between Latvia and Armenia.
During the talks, the Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andžejs Viļumsons, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Paruyr Hovhannisyan, discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on topics on the agenda of the European Union and Armenia, Armenia’s relations with Azerbaijan, as well as other matters of regional and international relevance.
As part of his visit, Andžejs Viļumsons also met with the Chair of the Armenian Parliament’s Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Sargis Khandanyan. The officials focussed in particular on the possibilities of strengthening parliamentary cooperation, including a visit to Latvia by the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, planned for 26 June.
Previous political consultations between Latvia and Armenia took place on 5 June 2023 in Riga.
