Andžejs Viļumsons un Jelena Čukić Matić

On 29 July 2024, the acting State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andžejs Viļumsons, met with the next Serbian non-resident Ambassador to Latvia, Jelena Čukić Matić, who had arrived on an introductory visit.

The officials agreed to strengthen political dialogue, foster economic contacts between businesspersons from both countries, cooperate within international organizations, and they exchanged views on the situation in the Western Balkans and current security policy issues. When discussing the topic of the European Union (EU) enlargement, Andžejs Viļumsons underlined the need for EU candidate countries to engage in alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy.

The Ambassador will take office after her accreditation with the President of Latvia. The Serbian ambassador resides in Stockholm.
