Vēstnieks Eduards Stiprais iesniedz akreditācijas vēstuli Monako firstam Albertam II

On 6 April 2021, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the French Republic, Eduards Stiprais, presented his credentials to H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, thereby becoming the fourth Latvian Ambassador to Monaco.

During accreditation, the Prince of Monaco and the Ambassador discussed bilateral cooperation and cooperation in international organisations, focusing on environmental issues, the fight against disinformation and Latvia’s candidacy for a seat on the United Nations Security Council in 2025. The Ambassador expressed appreciation of Latvian musicians actively taking part in music festivals held in Monaco and performing at the Opéra de Monte Carlo.  

During his accreditation visit, Ambassador Stiprais had a meeting with representatives from the Monaco Chamber of Commerce for a discussion on prospects for cooperation between Latvia and Monaco in business, trade and tourism. Possibilities for cooperation on environmental matters and ‘smart cities’ were discussed with representatives of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

On his accreditation visit, the Ambassador was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of Latvia in Monaco, Jean-Claude Eude.

Diplomatic relations between Latvia and Monaco were established on 15 October 2008. Jānis Kārkliņš, Latvian Ambassador to France residing in Paris, was accredited as the first Ambassador of Latvia to Monaco on 12 March 2009.
