On 24 September 2024, Jurijs Pogrebņaks, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Hungary, submitted his letter of credence to the President of Hungary, Tamás Sulyok.
In a conversation with the Hungarian President after the official ceremony in the Sándor Palace, Ambassador Pogrebņaks voiced his commitment to continued strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries through a regular dialogue and work towards deepening of economic contacts.
Jurijs Pogrebņaks expressed his gratitude to the President for Hungary’s support for NATO deterrence and defence measures in the Baltic region and participation in the Baltic Air Policing mission.

Jurijs Pogrebņaks has an extensive experience of working in the Latvian diplomatic missions abroad. He has served as First Secretary at the Embassy in the Czech Republic, Counsellor at the Embassy in the Republic of Turkey, Counsellor, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy in the U.S., as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Republic of Kazakhstan and non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Kyrgyz Republic.
