On 15 March 2022, in an official ceremony in Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, presented credentials to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to the Hellenic Republic, Ieva Briede.
Ieva Briede began her diplomatic career with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999 at the Visits Division of the State Protocol. She has worked at the European Union Policy Department and the General Affairs Division of the European Department, as well as serving as Head of the Foreign Minister’s Office, Head of Office of the Minister of Defence, and Deputy Head of the State Protocol. Ieva Briede has been posted to the Latvian Embassies in Greece, Hungary, and Estonia as well as to the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the European Union in Brussels.
Ambassador Briede has earned the qualifications of head of an external relations unit at the Institute of International Relations and she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education, the specialty of English Language Teaching.
