On the 3rd of September 2020 Ambassador of Latvia to the UN, OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna Katrina Kaktina presented credentials to the OSCE Officer-in-Charge/ Secretary General Ambassador Tuula Yrjölä.
During the accreditation ceremony Ambassador Kaktina expressed support to the OSCE in these tense times for international security and discussed priorities of the OSCE across all its dimensons. The Ambassadors also discussed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the OSCE’s work in conflict prevention and conflict resolution.
Background Information
Katrīna Kaktiņa began working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2003, and during her career she has worked at the Office of the Foreign Minister, served as Head of the International Relations Division and the Legal Department, as well as being posted to the Permanent Mission of Latvia to the United Nations in New York.
Ambassador Kaktiņa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Latvia, a Master’s degree in Law (LL.M.) from Georgetown University with a specialisation in International Law, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Latvian Academy of Culture with a focus on bilateral Latvian-Spanish cultural contacts.
