Akreditācijas vēstuli saņem Latvijas vēstnieks ANO Ženēvā Bahtijors Hasans

On 7 July 2020, in an official ceremony in Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, presented credentials to the designate Latvian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary  to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Bahtijors Hasans.

Since the start of his diplomatic career in 1993, Bahtijors Hasans has worked at the CIS Department and the European Union Coordination Department, has been Head of the Asia and Africa Division and served at the embassies of Latvia in Uzbekistan, Sweden, and Finland. He has also been posted as Latvia's Ambassador to Slovenia, Kosovo, and to the UN, OSCE and other international organisations in Vienna.

Bahtijors Hasans holds Master’s degree in Law as well as in the Latvian Language and Literature with a translator’s qualifications from the University of Latvia.

From 2017 up until the present posting, Bahtijors Hasans was Head of the Consular and Diplomatic Facilities Directorate.

In his new post, the Ambassador succeeds Jānis Kārkliņš, who has represented Latvia’s interests at the UN in Geneva since 2015.
