As of 16 January 2023, Ambassador Raimonds Jansons assumes the duties of the Head of State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since 2017, Raimonds Jansons has been Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Estonia. As part of his career, he has been posted as Ambassador to the Permanent Mission of Latvia to the United Nations in Geneva from 2011 to 2015, and to Belgium from 2006 to 2011.  

Raimonds Jansons remains in the post of non-resident Ambassador of Latvia to South Africa.

Since the beginning of his career in the foreign service in 1993, Raimonds Jansons has gained substantial experience at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving as Director of the Legal Department, Director of the International Organisations and Human Rights Department, as well as Press Secretary and Head of the Communications Directorate.

Raimonds Jansons has been awarded the Order of Merit of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and made Grand Officer of the Order of Leopold of Belgium.
