On 22 July 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, will attend the European Union (EU) Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels, Belgium.

EU Foreign Ministers will discuss all topical agenda points on helping Ukraine in its fight against the Russian aggression. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, will join the introduction to the session via videoconference. The meeting will also continue a discussion on the current situation in the Middle East.

Ministers will then have an informal exchange of views with the President of the European Investment Bank, Nadia Calviño.

Background information

The Foreign Affairs Council deals with issues relating to external action, including the common foreign and security policy, the European security and defence policy, external trade and development cooperation. The Council’s main task is to ensure the unity, consistency and effectiveness of the EU’s external action.
