On 21 May 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, will attend the meeting of the European Union General Affairs Council in Brussels, Belgium.
During the meeting, ministers will discuss the rule of law in four Member States, including Latvia. Ministers will also hear information on the state of play with the rule of law in Poland and prepare for the meeting of the European Council on 27 and 28 June. There will also be an informal discussion with the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for European integration, Cristina Gherasimov.
The General Affairs Council deals with issues affecting more than one EU policy, such as negotiations on EU enlargement, preparations for the meeting of the European Council, the development of the EU’s multiannual budgetary perspective, as well as the rule of law, institutional and administrative matters.
