On 12 November 2024, at 15.00, in the National Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) Vaivari, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, will meet with representatives from Ukrainian medical institutions, who have arrived in Latvia for an experience exchange event. In Ukraine, they are implementing rehabilitation programmes for patients affected by the Russian war of aggression, including those after limb amputations. The rehabilitation programmes contribute to the recovery of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians from injuries sustained in Russia’s war of aggression.

At 15.00, the staff of the NRC Vaivari, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia, Anatolii Kutsevol, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Artjoms Uršuļskis, and officials from the National Health Service will join in a conversation with Ukrainian medics.

The medical delegation from Ukraine will be staying in Latvia from 11 to 15 November During the experience sharing event, 16 medical professionals from seven Ukrainian health care institutions in Ternopil, Uzhhorod, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, and Kyiv will acquaint themselves with Latvia’s expertise in the rehabilitation of patients, enhance their professional knowledge and skills, as well as learning new medical treatment and diagnostic methods in the implementation of rehabilitation programmes and a system for circulation of technical aids.

  • The visit by Ukrainian medical professionals takes place as part of the development cooperation grant project supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “Sharing of experience by VSIA National Rehabilitation Centre Vaivari with Ukrainian medical care institutions in the implementation of rehabilitation programmes, including for patients after limb amputations.
  • The project was launched by the NRC Vaivari in 2022.
  • Since 2023, the project has also raised $200,000 in funding from the Development Cooperation Partnership programme under the U.S. Department of State, thereby expanding the project’s circle of partners.
