On Tuesday, 26 November 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, will welcome a working visit from with the Minister for European Union Affairs and Nordic Cooperation of Sweden, Jessica Rosencrantz, for whom this is the first visit to Latvia.
The Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dace Melbārde, will meet with the Swedish EU Affairs Minister for consultations.
The talks will address topics on the European Union (EU) agenda, the EU’s future plans to provide support to Ukraine, work on introducing sanctions and the process of restricting operations of the “shadow fleet”, as well as EU enlargement.
Special focus will also be placed on the future of the EU competitiveness and its defence industry in the light of the report by Mario Draghi on the future of European competitiveness, published in September, and on preparations for the European Council meeting on 19–20 December.
Jessica Rosencrantz has held the post of Minister for European Union Affairs since 10 September 2024.
