On 20 July 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, will take part in the annual meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Baltic States and Germany in a “3+1” format, at which he will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Urmas Reinsalu; the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Linas Linkevičius; and the German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Heiko Maas.
At the meeting, the Ministers will discuss topics on the agendas of the European Union and NATO, the Eastern Partnership policy, latest developments in relations with China and Russia, dialogue with Turkey, and the state of affairs in Syria and Libya.
The previous 3+1 meeting of Baltic and German Ministers of Foreign Affairs was via a videoconference that took place on 17 March, whereas on 21 May 2019, the Ministers met in person in Hamburg. The Foreign Ministers have been meeting in this 3+1 format since 1994.
