We touch and hold the flag of free Latvia

With reverence for its growing freedom.

May that nascent free spirit live in us and be with us!

So we were and so we we are,

One nation, one people, forever and ever.

On 18 November 2021, the Republic of Latvia is celebrating the 103rd anniversary of its proclamation. 103 years ago, in the Latvian National Theatre (then – Riga Second Theatre), the Republic of Latvia was proclaimed in the presence of 38 members of the People’s Council of Latvia and the audience of at least 800 persons.

However, Latvia’s freedom and international recognition was not immediately guaranteed – Latvian soldiers had to defend their country’s territorial integrity on the battlefield, while Latvian diplomats fought for Latvia’s recognition de jure. As we mark the 103th anniversary, let us remember and celebrate the centenary of Latvia’s international recognition.

Congratulations from the Foreign Service on the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Latvia!

We wish you a beautiful holiday!
