On 17 October 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is hosting a Digital Cooperation Seminar with participation of a delegation from Ukraine. The event is focusing on digital challenges and seeking solutions for new cooperation between Latvia and Ukraine.
The seminar on digital cooperation with Ukraine is an introductory event before the 5G ecosystem forum, 5G Techritory 2023.
The seminar was launched by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs.
“Latvia has been providing support to Ukraine on a continuing basis. It is important to participate in Ukraine’s reform processes by co-funding projects that promote good governance as well as economic growth and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises,” Andris Pelšs underlined.
The State Secretary emphasised: “Ukraine's future is embodied in three words: victory, reform and reconstruction. Difficult as it may be, those three must unfold concurrently.”
The participants were addressed by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Latvia, Anatolii Kutsevol, who underscored that concrete decisions and actions in the digitalisation sector were of key importance at the present moment. A speech was also delivered remotely by the Deputy Minister for Eurointegration at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Valeriya Ionan: “Our countries have a shared vision of Ukraine’s reconstruction and the necessary reforms.”
The Deputy Minister offered special thanks to Latvia for its current support in the reconstruction of Ukraine.
The Latvian IT sector was widely represented by companies such as LMT, Mikrotik, SAF Tehnika, Tet, and Tilde. Participants from Riga Technical University, Riga Business School and Riga TechGirls also shared their experience and took part in the round table discussion.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would like to thank the Latvian information Technology Cluster for its contribution to organising the event.
The visit of digital transformation experts and representatives from the telecommunications sector of Ukraine to Riga is supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
