On 22 April 2025, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, Dana Goldfinča, submitted credentials to His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. Dana Goldfinča is the first Ambassador of Latvia accredited to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Ambassador’s accreditation will contribute to the further development of bilateral political and economic relations between the two countries and open up more opportunities for dialogue on global and regional issues.

As part of her accreditation visit, Dana Goldfinča met with officials from the Foreign Ministry of Bahrain and discussed possibilities for export and cooperation with Latvia in other areas, including health, medicine, and education.

Latvia and Bahrain are both running for an elected member’s seat on the United Nations Security Council for the period of 2026-2027: Latvia, from the group of Eastern European States, and Bahrain, from the group of Asia-Pacific States. During a bilateral meeting, the Ambassador presented Latvia’s priorities and goals for its membership of the UN Security Council and listened to Bahrain’s priorities in this regard. Mutual readiness was expressed for further consultations while preparing for work on the UN Security Council.

Dana Goldfinča resides in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

Diplomatic relations between Latvia and Bahrain were established on 27 March 2000.
