On 11 October 2023, at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, will address the participants of the session, sharing views on international developments and presenting what Latvia has accomplished during its presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
As part of his visit, the Foreign Minister will also meet with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Maria Pejčinović Burić. A meeting has also been scheduled with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz.
The Council of Europe is a regional organisation established with the aim of safeguarding human rights, democracy and the rule of law. From 17 May to 15 November this year, Latvia is holding the rotating Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
