On 1 and 2 February 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Krišjānis Kariņš, will make a visit to Brussels to attend the Third European Union (EU) Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum and the 24th Ministerial Meeting of the EU and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
During both the formats, the Foreign Ministers of the European Union Member States will discuss with their Indian-Pacific counterparts the global challenges and current developments as well as prospects for future cooperation. Krišjānis Kariņš intends to address the security challenges that the two regions have in common, and the opportunities for economic cooperation, while calling for expanding interaction in education and science, the diversification of supply chains and the mitigation of climate change.
The Foreign Minister will also have bilateral talks with heads of delegations from Australia, Japan, Singapore, Palau, and Tuvalu.
