On 8 December 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Krišjānis Kariņš, met with the Ambassador of France to Latvia, Aurélie Royet-Gounin.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister and the Ambassador discussed the strengthening of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, Latvia’s candidacy for elections to the United Nations Security Council and further cooperation at the UN, as well as the EU enlargement process. The French Ambassador informed the Minister about the UN Ocean Conference to be organised by France and Costa Rica in 2025.
The officials expressed satisfaction with the visit of the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, to Latvia and the Latvia–France Strategic Partnership Action Plan then signed.
Aurélie Royet-Gounin has been serving as French Ambassador to Latvia since 16 June 2020.
