On 13 November 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, will take part in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union in Brussels.
At the Council, the Foreign Ministers will focus on the situation in Israel and the Middle East region, following up on the discussion initiated at the Foreign Affairs Council and the European Council in October. Krišjānis Kariņš and his colleagues from EU Member States will also exchange views on the Russian aggression against Ukraine and discuss the launch of accession talks with Ukraine, and the EU’s military assistance to Ukraine in the long term.
The Council’s agenda also covers current developments in Armenia and Azerbaijan as well as the foreign policy dimension of Europe’s economic security.
While in Brussels, Krišjānis Kariņš will participate in the EU-Western Balkans ministerial meeting, which is to address the alignment of the Western Balkans countries with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP).
