On 11 December 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, will take part in the meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council of the European Union in Brussels.
The discussion on assistance to Ukraine in its fight against the Russian aggression will focus on the EU’s military support and its future commitment to supporting Ukraine in the security sector. Ministers will also exchange views on the current situation in Israel and the Middle East region and in the Sahel, as well as on the foreign policy dimension of Europe’s economic security.
In addition, informal ministerial meetings are planned with the leader of the Belarusian pro-democratic forces, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskya, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Samveli Mirzoyan, within the framework of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
Krišjānis Kariņš will also take part in the annual Eastern Partnership Ministerial meeting, which is expected to discuss the future of the Eastern Partnership and reaffirm the EU’s readiness to deepen cooperation.
