On 12 December 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš, will take part in the meeting of the General Affairs Council of the European Union in Brussels.
At the meeting, the ministers will make preparations for the European Council on 14 and 15 December, and hold a discussion on the EU’s enlargement and launching of negotiations with Ukraine, Moldova, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ministers are also to exchange views on improvements to the rule of law dialogue and the toolbox for managing demographic change in Europe.
Representatives from the Member States will be given a presentation on the roadmap for European Semester 2024 and the proposal for the creation of an EU Atlantic macro-regional strategy.
