On 16 and 17 February 2024, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Krišjānis Kariņš, is participating in the 60th Munich Security Conference in Germany, which will address the challenges of foreign and security policy across the globe.

On Friday, the Minister will attend the launch of the Munich Security Conference and a number of discussion panels. Krišjānis Kariņš will also take part in a discussion, “Strategically Aligning Security and Prosperity in the Emerging Global Order”, held by the German Council on Foreign Relations think-tank (DGAP – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik) and in a discussion, “Three Seas Partnership on Ukraine’s Reconstruction: Mapping the transatlantic community’s response”, hosted by the Atlantic Council think-tank.

On the sidelines of the conference, the three Foreign Ministers of the Baltic States are planning to meet with the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, David Cameron.

During the conference, Krišjānis Kariņš intends to have bilateral meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrein, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova, Mihai Popsoi, the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), Robert Floyd, and members of the United States Congress.

The Minister will also give several media interviews.

The Munich Security Conference will take place from 16 to 18 February; the event can be followed on the website at securityconference.org.
