Ārlietu ministrs. arī pēc breksita Apvienotā Karaliste saglabā svarīgu lomu Eiropas drošībā un aizsardzībā

On 24 August 2022, in Riga, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edgars Rinkēvičs, met with the Minister of State for Europe at the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Graham Stuart, for a discussion on developments in Ukraine and the security situation in the region as well as the post-Brexit relationship between the European Union and the United Kingdom.

We thank Britain for its solid stance, the sanctions it has currently adopted and military assistance given to Ukraine, the Foreign Minister underlined. He added that the United Kingdom’s contribution to the strengthening of security in the Baltic region was also greatly appreciated.

The Latvian Foreign Minister emphasised that after Brexit the United Kingdom retained its highly important role not only in the European security and defence policy but also in the vast array of bilateral relations issues and the relationship between the EU and the United Kingdom.
