On 7 November 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosts a conference, “The Future of the European Union and Latvia’s Interests” in cooperation with the Latvian Institute of International Affairs. Its aim is to stimulate a public discussion about the various challenges of the future of the European Union and the role and interests of Latvia in shaping the EU’s future. The event will address topics such as the enlargement of the European Union, ensuring security and stability, promotion of competitiveness, achieving sustainable economic and climate objectives.
The discussion will gather experts from various fields – think tanks, the media, public administration, civil society and business community. EU-related information providers, including those working at the European Union Information Points (ESIP) and Europe Direct centres in Latvia’s regions, as well as the representatives of the academic sector, the media, civil society and youth and other stakeholders are also welcome to actively contribute to the work of the conference.
At the event, the Latvian Institute of International Affairs will provide an insight into its recent publication, “Latvia’s Vision of EU 2030. Towards a European Union Prepared for Future Challenges”.
The conference is held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to mark the twentieth anniversary of Latvia’s membership of the European Union.
