On 2 August 2024, a decision was passed in accordance with Section 61, Paragraph two of the Immigration Law on the inclusion of a citizen of the Russian Federation, Denis Rublev, in the list of personae non grata in the Republic of Latvia. The ban on entering Latvia is imposed on the said person for an indefinite period of time.
Denis Rublev has continued performing in the Crimean Peninsula occupied and illegally annexed by Russia, thereby supporting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
Denis Rublev was to give a performance at the First Club in Riga on 2 August. The organisers of the concert have been informed of the decision.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on the organisers of concerts and other public events to always carefully ascertain the reputation and actions of any guest performers to be invited, abiding by and respecting Latvia’s principles-based support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Latvia utterly condemns the unprovoked and unjustified aggression unleashed by Russia on Ukraine and its territorial integrity in 2014, as well as the unprovoked and unjustified full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.
