On 29 January 2024, Foreign Minister Krišjānis Kariņš attended the official event for the launch of the annual publication of the Latvian Institute of International Affairs, “Latvian Foreign and Security Policy. Yearbook 2024”. Addressing those present, the Foreign Minister reaffirmed:

Latvia is interested in the existence of a world order based on the rule of law, the way it is today. In such a world order, small countries thrive and prosper. A rules-based world order is rooted in active multilateral cooperation and the effective functioning of international organisations. Right now, we are facing various challenges, including Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine, which is about to enter its second calendar year. Our answer to this is active participation in the European Union, NATO and more active cooperation with countries across the globe.

The yearbooks of Latvia’s foreign and security policy provide an annual analysis of developments in those fields in Latvia, as well as modelling possible development scenarios and suggesting solutions.
