Latvia joins the international community in condemning a massive cyber-attack against Georgia in 28 October 2019. The cyber-attack targeted Georgia’s government and private companies’ websites as well as the national TV stations.
Latvia shares in the views expressed in the statements made by Georgia, the United States of America and the United Kingdom, which attribute the cyber-attack to the Main Division of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation as well as pledging their support to Georgia.
Latvia strongly advocates responsible state behaviour in cyberspace and the applicability of international law and norms in cyberspace. Malicious cyber-activities threaten free, open, stable and secure cyberspace. Latvia will continue to cooperate with its allies and partners seeking to collectively strengthen security in cyberspace and deter further cyber-attacks.
