In continuing Latvia’s support for those affected by human rights abuses, and to strengthen media freedom and promote democratic change in Belarus, the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has awarded funding to four projects in the grant project competition, “Development cooperation projects to support civil society in Belarus”.
The projects supported as the result of the competition will be implemented by “Centrs MARTA”, “Latvia’s Platform for Development Cooperation”, and “The Latvian Association of Journalists”. In view of the total funding available for the competition, the Foreign Ministry can only partly support a project submitted by an association titled “New Door”.
All applicants will be notified about the results of the assessment for their project applications. Eight applications were received for the total amount of 286 098.34 EUR. Associations and foundations could apply for the 120 000 EUR of funding which was available.
