Latvia joins the U.S. and Poland-led Ukraine Communications Group in Warsaw on 10 June 2024.
The first meeting of the Task Force took place on Monday. At the opening event, the U.S. Special Envoy and Coordinator for the Global Engagement Centre James Rubin and Polish Foreign Minister's Plenipotentiary for Countering International Disinformation Tomasz Chłoń referred to the ongoing struggle for information space, in which the Task Force will be in charge of supporting Ukraine.
In addition to political, diplomatic, economic and military support, Ukraine also needs support in the information space. The Task Force's tasks will include countering Russia's global disinformation campaign, while keeping support for Ukraine high on the international agenda.
The Task Force will include representatives from the U.S., Canada, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, as well as the European External Action Service and NATO.
