On 8 August 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decision on the allocation of financial resources to Slovenia from the State budget programme “Contingency Funds”. Latvia stands in solidarity with the people of Slovenia and expresses its condolences to those who have lost their loved ones and homes in the severe floods by allocating EUR 50 000 to the relief efforts.
On 4 August, heavy rainfall in Slovenia caused landslides and floods, affecting two thirds of the country. Numerous houses have been destroyed, roads are under water and rail traffic is disrupted. This is the biggest natural disaster in the country’s recent history.
