On 16 August 2022, in an official ceremony in Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, presented credentials to the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Georgia, Edīte Medne.
Edīte Medne began working for the foreign service in 1995, taking up a post at the Embassy Division. During her career, she has served at the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the European Union, the Administration Director’s Office, and also heading the Property and Investment Policy Department and the Diplomatic Facilities Department.
Since 2018, she has been posted to the Embassy of Latvia in Ireland as Deputy Head of Mission.
The Ambassador has studied at the History and Philosophy Faculty of the University of Latvia. She speaks English, German and Russian.
In her present posting, Edīte Medne succeeds Ingrīda Levrence, who had been the Ambassador of Latvia to Georgia 2018.
