I.Mangule akreditāvija Kirgizstānā

On 15 March 2022 in Bishkek, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, Irina Mangule, presented her credentials to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Sadyr Japarov.

Irina Mangule confirmed that Latvia was interested in strengthening bilateral cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, including a political dialogue, parliamentary contacts, and cooperation in economy, education and other sectors. In the format of development cooperation, Latvia will continue promoting modernization in Kyrgyzstan by sharing reform experience in the areas of good governance, education, green technologies, and others. Together with other donors, Latvia will further support the participation of representatives from Kyrgyzstan in the European Law and Economics Programme run by Riga Graduate School of Law.

The Ambassador thanked the President for support to the European Union’s Border Management Programme in Central Asia, BOMCA, which has been led by the State Border Guard of Latvia since 2015, and the regional office of which is based in Bishkek. The 10th phase of the programme was launched on 10 April 2021.

Latvia supports Kyrgyzstan’s closer cooperation with the EU and hopes that an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation agreement between Kyrgyzstan and the EU will be signed in the near future.

President Sadyr Japarov expressed satisfaction with the good long-standing relations between Latvia and Kyrgyzstan, and he confirmed interest in expanding those relations.
