On 20 February 2020 in Pristina, the Ambassador of Latvia, Gunta Pastore, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi.
The Ambassador and the President expressed appreciation for the friendly and constructive bilateral relations between Latvia and Kosovo. The President thanked Latvia for its support to Kosovo and highlighted the potential for business cooperation.
The Ambassador also noted that Latvia advocates an active engagement of the European Union (EU) in the Western Balkans regions. Latvian experts take part in EU Twinning projects in Kosovo assisting with reforms in the areas such as strengthening the rule of law and data protection. The President said that Kosovo is interested in learning as much as possible from Latvia’s experience.
The conversation also addressed recent developments in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, including agreements on resuming air and rail service between Kosovo and Serbia and on the building of highways between the capital cities of the two countries.
