As complex geopolitical conditions persist in the world, special attention has also been paid this year to preparing consular officials for crisis management, which includes a consular crisis roleplay simulation. Participants will take an in-depth look at the development of services available in the missions and explore the opportunities offered by an electronic signature. The training also covers topics related to the protection of personal data in consular work, the protection of children’s rights and the prevention of trafficking in human beings.
Lecturers are the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and experts from the State Inspectorate for the Protection of Children’s Rights, Riga Orphans’ and Custody Court, the Data State Inspectorate, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of the Interior, a society Shelter Safe House, the Council of Sworn Notaries of Latvia, and the Latvian Radio and Television Centre.
Annual training sessions for consular officers have been held since 1995. They ensure an opportunity for the effective sharing of information and experience among consular officials working both at the Ministry’s headquarters and abroad.
