Latvia’s statement following the announcement by the United States of actions to respond to the Russian Federation’s destabilizing activities

Latvia shares the U.S. concern regarding destabilizing and reckless behaviour by the Russian Federation, including in cyberspace. Russia’s use of a military chemical nerve agent of the “Novichok” group against Sergei and Yulia Skripal and opposition politician Alexei Navalny, its disinformation campaigns in neighboring countries and globally, including with regard to COVID -19, its malicious use of information and communication technologies, and its actions aimed at undermining democratic processes or influencing elections in other countries. Latvia stands in solidarity with the resolute actions taken by the U.S. in response to these destabilizing activities. Latvia expects restraint and stepping back from such disruptive practices.  We shall continue to work closely with our partners to prevent such actions.
