On 27 and 28 November 2023, the leader of the Belarusian democratic movement, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, will pay a working visit to Latvia to draw attention to the growing repressions by the Lukashenko regime and to discuss ways to further support the Belarusian democratic movement.
During her visit, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will meet with Latvia’s top officials – President of Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs, Speaker of the Saeima, Daiga Mieriņa, Prime Minister, Evika Siliņa, Chairman of the Riga City Council, Vilnis Ķirsis, and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, as well as State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Dimitrijs Trofimovs. During her visit, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is also scheduled to attend the meeting of the Regional Directors for Russia and Eastern Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which will be attended by representatives from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
At a ceremony at the National Library of Latvia, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will present a donation to the People’s Bookshelf.
Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya will also be interviewed by several Latvian media.
