The areas of particular importance for Latvia are: continued support for Ukraine; a fully functional EU Single Market, which sees 30 years since its establishment in 2023; reform of the EU’s electricity market; delivery on the European Green Deal; a Europe fit for the digital age; a sustainable EU’s migration and asylum policy resilient to crisis; the strengthening of the Schengen Area; protection of democracy; health, social and education-related issues.
In 2023, the European Commission Representation in Latvia, the European Parliament Office in Latvia, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with their cooperation partners will organise a series of events on latest EU policy developments. A special emphasis in the event programme will be laid on regions. Two traditional forums for EU information providers have been scheduled for spring and autumn. Other events include a Europe Day programme for May, participation in the annual “Back to School” campaign, discussion sessions in the regions, as well as the annual conference for professional translators, “The Latvian Language in the European Union”.
The declaration on cooperation in the communication of European Union matters is being signed for the eighth consecutive year.
