On 10 October 2022, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia, Juris Poikāns, presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev.
During the accreditation ceremony, the Ambassador and the President of Bulgaria underlined the good and friendly relations between the two countries and discussed the ways to strengthen them. Special attention was devoted to the security situation in the region caused by Russia’s war against Ukraine. The officials highlighted the close cooperation between Latvia and Bulgaria in the European Union and NATO.
Ahead of the accreditation ceremony, the Ambassador submitted a copy of his letter of credence to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Velislava Petrova.
The Latvian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Juris Poikāns, resides in Warsaw, Poland. In his current posting, he succeeds the previous Ambassador, Edgars Bondars.
