On 16 August 2022, in an official ceremony in Riga Castle, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, presented credentials to the next Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ireland, Juris Štālmeistars.
Juris Štālmeistars began working at the Foreign Economic Policy Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. During his career, he has served at the Permanent Representation of Latvia to the European Union, the Foreign Ministry’s Economic Relations and Development Cooperation Policy Department, the Latvian Embassy in Lithuania, and the Ministry’s International Economic Organisations Division.
Since 2017, he has been Head of the Economic Relations, Trade and Development Cooperation Directorate.
The Ambassador holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Economics from Riga Technical University and a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Latvia.
In this posting, Juris Štālmeistars succeeds Ambassador Jānis Sīlis, who had been representing Latvia’s interests in Ireland since 2017.
