On 18 January 2024, a video call was held between the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Reinis Brusbārdis, and a Member of the European Court of Auditors, Mihails Kozlovs, to discuss the European Court of Auditors’ annual report concerning the 2022 financial year.
Reinis Brusbārdis commended the work accomplished by the European Court of Auditors on the analysis of the European Union’s budget and policies in a number of sectors.
The Parliamentary Secretary rated highly the reports and opinions produced by the European Court of Auditors. During the call, the officials discussed the already completed reports on both Ukraine and the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) as well as the planned audits.
Reinis Brusbārdis expressed hope in further successful cooperation with the European Court of Auditors, since that would promote transparency of the European Union’s budget and functioning as well as strengthening good governance practices.
