Rīgā notiek Latvijas un Uzbekistānas politiskās konsultācijas

On 22 June 2023, political consultations were held between Latvia and Uzbekistan, at which Latvia was represented by the Under Secretary, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andžejs Viļumsons, and Uzbekistan, by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gayrat Fazilov.

The officials discussed bilateral relations, including the enhancement of the legal framework; they welcomed the dynamic bilateral cooperation and agreed to continue working to expand the partnership. The diplomats then reviewed the cooperation of the Central Asian countries with the European Union and other international partners and exchanged views on current global and regional challenges, including Russia’s war in Ukraine and developments in Central Asia and Afghanistan.  

As part of the consultations, Gayrat Fazilov also contributed to a round table discussion with Latvian development cooperation project promoters and visited a pharmaceutical company, AS “Olainfarm”.

Previous political consultations between Latvia and Uzbekistan took place in in Riga in 2021.
