On 26 November 2021, political consultations were held between Latvia and Argentina. The delegation of Latvia was headed by the Under Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Political Director, Andžejs Viļumsons, and the delegation of Argentina, by the Undersecretary for Foreign Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Claudio Javier Rozencwaig.
The partners in talks agreed to continue political contacts to finalise work on the bilateral agreements currently being drafted and promote bilateral economic relations and cultural contacts thereby implementing an agreement just signed on cooperation in that field.
Andžejs Viļumsons informed the Argentinian officials about solutions created by Latvian companies in the high-tech sector and about the opportunities for investing in Latvia, as well as the advantages offered by Latvia’s ports. Claudio Javier Rozencwaig expressed interest in developing cooperation with the Freeport of Riga.
During the consultations, opinions were shared on current regional issues and cooperation in international organisations, including promoting gender equality and women’s rights, due to both Latvia and Argentina being elected to the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, UN Women, from 2021 to 2025.
