Valsts prezidents pasniedz akreditācijas vēstuli vēstniekam Ēģiptē Ilmāram Breidakam

On 2 March 2020, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, in an official ceremony in Riga Castle, presented credentials to the Latvian Ambassador-designate to Egypt, Ilmārs Breidaks.

Ilmārs Breidaks began working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1999, at the Group Preparation of EU Accession Negotiations. The Ambassador has held various posts at the Foreign Ministry, including those of Head of the NATO and European Security Policy Division, and as Head of the Security Policy Department. He has also been Deputy Head of the Foreign Minister’s Office and Deputy Chief of Mission at the Latvian Embassy in the United States of America

Ilmārs Breidaks has earned the degree of M.A.Soc.Sci. in Political Sciences from the University of Latvia and he is fluent in both English and Russian.

The Ambassador succeeds Iveta Šulca, who was the Latvian Ambassador to Egypt from 2012 to 2019.
