Klusuma brīdis. 2024. gada 19. novembrī plkst. 9.00, godinot Ukrainu

November 19 sees 1,000 days since Russia’s full-scale military invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022.

Ukraine is fighting tirelessly day by day. For more than two years, with amazing courage and determination, the Ukrainian people stands strong against Russia’s aggression. Latvia’s support to Ukraine is firm and unwavering. Latvia and its people stand with Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor, Russia.

Every day at 9.00 a.m., Ukraine observes a moment of silence to honour and pay tribute to all the fighters who died. In solidarity with Ukraine and its people, the President of Latvia, the Speaker of the Saeima, the Prime Minister and the Minister to Foreign Affairs call on everyone across Latvia to join in a moment of silence at 9.00 a.m. on November 19. We invite local governments and organisations to hold a moment of silence in various locations in Latvia and light 1,000 candles in honour of the victims.

We will also commemorate the Latvian volunteer Vitālijs Smirnovs, who fell on October 1, 2023 in the east of Ukraine.

Slava Ukraini!
