Following an assessment of the security situation and consultations with the neighbouring countries and regional partners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs resumes a limited acceptance of visa applications from the citizens of Russia at Latvia’s diplomatic and consular missions abroad as from 4 July 2023.
From that date onwards, visa applications will be accepted from family members (spouses, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, and dependent persons) of the nationals – citizens and non-citizens – of Latvia, family members of the nationals of the European Union, the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation, as well as persons whose entry is related to humanitarian considerations (e.g., a serious illness of a relative or attending a funeral, or there being a threat to the person’s safety or life).
Each visa application will be assessed on a case by case basis, and the applicant will have to provide documentary proof of falling into any of the above listed categories.
The acceptance of visas applications from the citizens of Russia at the Latvian missions abroad was suspended in response to the military mutiny in Russia.
