On 8 November 2022, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Gunda Reire, launched the autumn session of the Intensive Programme in European Law and Economics, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and co-financed by the United States of America. The six-week course implemented by the Riga Graduate School of Law (RGSL) brings together 34 young professionals representing the public administration, civil society and the academic sector from countries and territories in the European Union’s Neighbourhood Policy region and the Western Balkans.
In her address to the participants of the programme, the Parliamentary Secretary recalled the fundamental values of the European Union and Latvia’s commitment to protect them. “Latvia, the European Union Member States and all like-minded partners around the globe agree without any doubt that now, more than ever, it is time to strengthen democracies. The Intensive Programme is a meaningful contribution to that common effort. Investment into youth and young professionals is vital to building cooperation,” Gunda Reire pointed out.
The Intensive Programme is to be held in person in Riga. The course also includes a week-long study trip to Brussels and Luxembourg, where the participants will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the European Union institutions.
