On 17 October 2024, the European Union’s International Special Envoy for the Implementation of EU Sanctions, David O’Sullivan, arrives in Latvia on a working visit.

During his visit, the EU Special Envoy will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Baiba Braže, to exchange views with the Foreign Ministry experts on current issues of the implementation and control of sanctions.

On 18 October, David O’Sullivan will participate in the Northern European regional security and foreign policy forum, The Rīga Conference 2024, held from 17 to 19 October 2024 at the Latvian national Museum of History.

The focus of this year’s forum is on urgent issues such as the future of European security, Ukraine’s victory in the war launched by Russia, the impact of sanctions on Russia’s internal stability, NATO’s 360-degree approach and global partnerships, the role of the United Nations and its agenda in the present-day geopolitical reality, and others.
