On 14 January 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the sixth meeting of the Sanctions Coordination Council in a video-conferencing format;the members of the Council discussed recent international developments concerning sanctions and shared information on activities planned for 2021.

The meeting of the Sanctions Coordination Council addressed the practice of enforcement of the Law on International Sanctions and National Sanctions of the Republic of Latvia, the latest sanctions set by the European Union, and the European Commission Opinion on effective application of restrictive measures. The Council also decided to propose amendments concerning the composition of the Council, to which four new institutions will be added.
