On 10 April 2024, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Andris Pelšs, met with the incoming Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Latvia, Timur Rakhmanov.
During the meeting, the officials rated positively the good bilateral relations between the two countries, which also cover diverse areas of practical cooperation. Andris Pelšs highlighted the close business cooperation, in particular, in the transport and logistics sectors, as well as in education and digitalisation. The diplomats welcomed the opportunities to share Latvia’s experience in various fields of reform and modernisation.
The State Secretary and the Ambassador also discussed the positive dynamics of relations between the European Union (EU) and Uzbekistan, as well as the current geopolitical situation.
Ambassador Rakhmanov arrived in Latvia on 13 March this year. The previous Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Latvia, Kadambay Sultanov, concluded his tenure this past February.
